WWE Meets Web3: Stars, Brands and Fans (2:00-2:45 pm)

“Web3 signals a new era for entertainment business. We will see the developing relationship between stars, brands and fans through NFT and social media.

The strategy marks Fox’s most committed investment in Web3 to date. Viewers will have the opportunity to collect assets related to the show’s characters, background art, and GIFs, almost as if they were participating in a digital trading card system.

The Eluvio Blockchain platform will host the show market.

But Fox’s NFTs will serve as more than just collectibles, Scott Greenberg, CEO of Blockchain Creative Labs, told Ad Age in February.

“Collectibles are a part of what we do, but how do you build a digital economy, a virtual economy around a brand?” he said.

The real value of NFTs, according to Greenberg, is their potential as content distribution vehicles, inspiring fan engagement with characters and moments long after a show airs.

In June of last year, Fox partnered with his animation house Bento Box to establish Blockchain Creative Labs. The $100 million project was formed to create NFTs using Fox’s intellectual property (IP).

Blockchain Creative Labs has already created:

  • Audio NFTs and commemorative posters for Dolly Parton’s “Dollyverse,
  • a “MaskVerse” collection for Fox’s secret celebrity singing show The Masked Singer,
  • and team tokens for the United States Soccer League.

The Dollyverse and MaskVerse collections have appeared for sale on the Eluvio.io NFT marketplace.

In August, the blockchain content startup received $100 million in funding from the Disney-owned broadcaster.

According to Fox’s announcement, an image featuring the Krapopolis logo and cast of characters was minted on the Eluvio.io blockchain.

Decentralized Storytelling: How Hollywood is Embracing Web3 (1:00-1:45 pm)

“Web3 has the potential to radicalize the relationship between storytellers and their fans. Is Hollywood ready for this shift from the multiverse to the metaverse? What if the future of fandom meant remixing studio IPs into Web3? And raise capital along the way? Featuring:

Decentralized Reality: The Promise, Potential, and Challenges of Web3 ( 2:00-2:45 pm)

“Web3 is about decentralizing centralized systems.

Launched in 2019, Eluvio is led by Emmy Award-winning technologists Michelle Munson and Serban Simu, and the company’s Eluvio Content Fabric is an advanced open protocol blockchain network designed specifically for storage, distribution and monetization. of digital content controlled by the owner. to scale. Eluvio LIVE, powered by the Eluvio Content Fabric, is a multi-tenant turnkey platform for publishers providing 4K streaming and event ticketing with media marketplaces.

These broadcasts will play an important role in promoting the new digital market to WWE’s core audience while also giving Fox more interest in the project.

For WWE, marketing the project in prime time will draw attention to its NFTs from an audience beyond crypto enthusiasts. And that also works in reverse.

It’s very possible that Fox is just looking for content to release with Blockchain Creative Labs, but that doesn’t stop it from being an opportunity to appeal to a different audience than Friday Night SmackDown is used to.

“Blockchain Creative Labs has quickly become a leader in the space with an incredible executive team that truly understands the NFT field and its tremendous potential,” said Scott Zanghellini, WWE Senior Vice President of Strategy and Revenue Development.

WWE has expanded its partnership with Fox FOXA with the announcement of a multi-year agreement to launch a non-fungible token (NFT) market. The NFTs will feature licensed collectible items honoring iconic WWE Superstar moments from WrestleMania, SummerSlam and other memorable WWE events.

Fox is currently airing WWE Friday Night SmackDown amid a massive multi-billion dollar deal signed in 2019, and through its Blockchain Creative Labs NFT imprint (spawned from a partnership with Bento Box Entertainment), Fox’s NFT deal with WWE will feature its first NFTs outside of the Fox Umbrella.

Blockchain Creative Labs currently manages a $100 million creative fund.

NFTs have had a breakout year so far, marked by Beeple’s $69.34 million sale at Christie’s in March. Christie’s is one of the few fine arts institutions that has helped the technology go mainstream (Sotheby’s, another famous auction house, has also staged its own NFT sales). Meanwhile, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, Binance, will soon launch an NFT market, suggesting that the market could have more room to grow.
