Subway, the American multinational fast food restaurant franchise founded in 1965, has filed two trademark applications for its name and stylized S logo, expressing its intentions to enter the metaverse and the world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
According to the apps, the company aims to provide:
- Virtual food and drinks;
- Retail store services featuring virtual goods;
- A virtual restaurant environment offering home delivery services.
The news was shared earlier today via Twitter by Metaverse trademark attorney Michael Kondoudis.
Subway isn’t alone in taking steps to enter the metaverse; many other food companies have, too.
